Biodiversity

Biodiversity reflects the intricate web of connections that sustains life in this planet. This 2 meters work invites the viewer to slowly walk along and notice its complexity and detailed surface. Layers of paint wash, brush strokes, pencil marks, as well as pastels lines are reference to the intricate connections that makes life exist.

The white outline represents a shield or aura protecting the living elements and transforms the rather catastrophic view of the future into a safe and more positive one where even the smallest beings are secure. It might be a naïf view and interpretation of life and events, but I chose hope – hope that we are becoming more conscious of the need to protect life and how our choices shape the natural world and remind us that biodiversity is not only an environmental concern, but also a social and ethical one.
