Gershwin’s Famous Duo

I had the inspirations of this artwork from Gershwin’s opera Porgy and Bess. The memory of my father telling me about the story is so vivid in my mind that feels like a movie on its own. Therefore the two large flowers at the top are Porgy (the lower one) and Bess (the one on top). Their lives are entangled as Porgy is resolute to save Bess from her troubles. I imagined an end where they finally live happily ever after.

I this work I used acrylic paint, pastels, and colouring pencils on thick watercolour paper (300g). It measures 140x80cm.
