Seeds of Spring

This work represents a turning point in my expression allowing the “language” that I aimed to achieve, be clearer as well as simple. While painting Seeds of Spring I drew short lines that meant movement and connection. These lines and ways of representing flow, fluidity, movement, became very important to my actual moment in painting. I feel the need to use them quite often (if not in all) in the artworks that are coming after Seeds of Spring.

As I started this painting, I knew I intentionally shades of yellow as the predominant colour. I wanted to steer away from the instinctive shades reds – which I really enjoy, but didn’t want to over do it. Here, I also started with the intuitive doodling technique that is spread throughout the works of this collection.

Without any further intention, I named it Seeds of Spring as the artwork reminded me of seeds pouring in the fields or swirling and moving to find the fertile grounds. But the importance of this work and the title goes further than what it “spoke” to me – it was indeed a seed planted that has germinated into other works.
