The Night Watcher
The Night Watcher is titled after the idea of a guardian angel. The tulip at the centre became my anchor—its stance and the gentle arc of its stem and petals suggested both vigilance and tenderness. I painted the light not just as illumination, but as a radiance that seems to flow from the tulip itself, enveloping the nearby foliage with a golden softness. This warmth is intentional; it embodies the sense of protection I felt while working, as if the tulip was sheltering not only the other plants, but the hopes and quiet lives within the scene.
This artwork measures 115x75cm. It was painted in 2026 in acrylic paint, oil pastels, and colouring pencils on 300g watercolour paper.
